Why a dummy?

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

Did you know dummies have great benefits, aside from calming/soothing baby?

-Dummies can help reduce the risk of SIDS! This is probably the biggest advantage to using a dummy.

-Dummies can reduce wind! This is most likely due to the soothing effect of a dummy. Whilst using a dummy, babies are less likely to be crying, thus reducing the intake of wind and lessening wind pains.

BIBS dummies have been designed to mimic the shape of a mother’s nipple, so that it can be used alongside breastfeeding. They comply with European standard: EN 1400+A1 and are made from 100% natural rubber, containing no nasties - BPA, Phthalate and Bisphenol A free! The teats are flexible and aid in the child’s natural sucking reflex. The angled shield is lightweight and so prevents it rubbing against little one's gentle skin. Air vents allow air to escape, so that the dummy can maintain it's natural shape.

Dummies should be sterilised prior to using them. To do this, please submerge the dummy in boiling water and allow to cool down. Afterwards, squeeze the teat to ensure there is no water remaining inside. Please refrain from using any type of washing up liquid or chemicals. Dummies should be replaced every six weeks and should be checked regularly for signs of wear and tear. Any changes in colour, tears, cracks etc the dummy should be discarded of immediately - failure to do so could lead to a child choking/suffocating.
